March 28th 1/2 Marathon and Downtown SLC

Brigham and I started off the morning with a run.  We wanted to go 12 but it wasn't an easy run.  I had mapped out the run on the computer but had sent us on a couple of roads that were new; and they had hills.  But we made it.  After we finished our 4 hills I told Brigham I may have miscalculated and we may be closer to 12.5.  He said that was ok and he wanted to try for 13.  We ended up going 13.1 and he explained to me later that is was because he realized this was his last long run before his birthday and he wanted to complete a half marathon while he was still 9.  SO AMAZING.  So Brigham ran his first half marathon in 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 49 seconds. AWESOME!
After coming home to shower and get everyone ready, we headed out to take Trax downtown.  We love Trax. We love that we can talk the whole way, see new things, walk around, and play the whole way.

When we got downtown we met Grandma Julie and had a picnic outside the Church Office Building.  We couldn't believe all of the flowers they had planted.  It was the most beautiful day ever and you could smell the flowers everywhere you went.  When we finished we took a tour of Brigham Young's house which I don't remember having done before.  It was pretty awesome.

Of course we took Brigham's picture by the original painting of Brigham Young.  Then we saw the original cloak that Brigham Young wore when he rode into the valley after crossing the plains.

After Brigham Young's house Grandma took us to go swimming in her pool.  She had to go to a closing but we stayed and had a great time.

Brigham and Porter wanted a picture of them both jumping in the pool together but this was the best I could do with my phone camera.  :)

Porter was able to swim the whole length of the pool as well.
After a long day filled with lots of fun we took Trax and headed back to our car to go home.  Dad and I had a meeting in the evening but the kids were insistent that we sleep outside.  It was freezing cold but inside our sleeping bags it was just right.  I was floored that we made it through the night but we did.
