Baby Martie turns ONE!

I know I am a bit late but I think I have figured out why I have put off doing this post.  I hate the thought that my baby is a year old.  Martie turned one on March 20th and now she thinks she is all big.  She is cutting back on naps, nursing less, and crawling like a big girl.  She can even enjoy a good book on her own.  She still only says "mom mom mom," but someone suggested that's because I spend all day getting her to say it.

She is such a delight in our home.  She smiles every time you look at her.  Porter is loving that she can play with him.  He always asks where "Moddie" is.  The other day he was dragging her across the floor the same way Brigham used move him around.

Julia loves sharing a room with Martie and one of her favorite things to do is take her into her room while she cleans it.  She sings to her and is constantly trying to make her laugh.  Julia also hates to hear her cry and is always the first one to go in and try to help.

Brigham likes being a big brother as well.  He is such a defender of his sister.  He is always looking out for her whenever anyone else is around.

Peter and I believe we couldn't have a cuter or sweeter baby.  She was in the basement with Peter yesterday and he was commenting about how she is like a litte puppy.  She crawls around rubbing her head against your ankles until you pick her up.  Then when she gets excited she sticks out her tounge and pants really fast like a puppy.  It is too cute.

For her Birthday, my neighbor and I made a GIANT cupcake.  We had three round cakes on the bottom and then a bowl and a cupcake for the top.  It took quite a while and we were up pretty late working on it but it was really cute.  Of course Martie got a small cake of her own.  I don't think she liked it that much because Grandma had filled her up on a chocolate donut only minutes before.

On her birthday we went to a carnival where they were raising money for a little boy with cancer.  The kids had a great time.  They saw a Jazz player and the Jazz bear that came in on a helicopter, played in a bounce house, played various other games, and climbed in a fire truck.  Somehow we neglected to get Martie in the pictures but she enjoyed the rider in the carrier on Peter and some cotton candy.

When we got home, Summer gave Martie the world's cutest headbands.  She wore them to church and when Grandma and Grandpa came over to give her a new pony.  She is one spoiled girl.

Martie is such a blessing in our home.  We are grateful for her smiles, her snuggles, her giggles, and her loving personality.  It is hard to see her growing up but it is also fun at the same time.  I can't wait to see what a cute toddler and a beautiful girl she will be.  Happy Late Birthday Martie!

Happy Birthday Martie! Hey, was the fundraiser for Spencer Gooch? I grew up with his Mom, Holly. I used to babysit her siblings. Do you know them?
