March 25th Red Butte Gardens

Today's activity was a trip up to Red Butte Gardens.  We stopped by a pond for lunch and a few of the kids had to use the restroom.  We were right by one so I sent them over to use it.  They came back gliggling and laughing.  They said they didn't know how to open the door.   I sent Julia over with them and she came back saying she couldn't do it either.  I asked if it was locked and she said she didn't know if it was.  She hadn't tried because she didn't know how.  When we were done with lunch I finally walked over to see what they were all laughing about and this is what I found:
Apparently they cover the door with this big metal door durring the off season.  Wierdest thing ever.  The circles are what Brigham called "amber donuts".  They didn't move.  The whole thing had a padlock at the bottom so it couldn't be moved.

While that may have been the most entertaining part of the day, the kids did seem to enjoy the rest of the garden and they loved finding places for pictures.  Here's just a few:

This is an apricot tree we stopped by to sing the "popcorn song."  It was beautiful. Perfect time of year to see an apricot tree.  :)  When we were all done at the gardens we stopped by "Rita's Frozen Happiness" where we got "ice water."  Some had frozen custard on the top and bottom while some were just plain.  Not suurprisingly, we liked them all.  And that night, Brigham and I did our usual "pizza run" and then the family met us for pizza at Rock Creek.  BEST PIZZA EVER!
