Holy Half!

My body is AMAZING!

I ran a half marathon with Elizabeth on June 8th.  We started up Provo Canyon by Bridal Veil Falls and ran down to Center Street in Provo.  Last year some friends of mine had run a half in under two hours and I decided I wanted to try the same thing.  I knew I had to run between 9:10 and 9:12 miles the whole way so I made a chart showing where I needed to be when.  Well, we showed up to catch the bus at 3:45 and got to the top about 4:15.  Sometime between then and the start of the race at 6am, I lost my chart.  I figured I would run with the pacer.  Well, I wanted to get a little ahead while we were on the steeper part of the downhill and once I set my pace it stuck.  :)  I finished in 1:52 with giving me an average pace of 8:36.  I have been running close to 9:20 on all of my training runs.  Admittedly, I look like I had a stroke in my only picture but who cares?  Happy Day!  Elizabeth smashed her goal as well.  She was planning on running close to 13 minute miles
and came in under 2.5 hours!  (Don't ask why her picture is turned.  I tried to fix it for 30 minutes and it just ain't gonna' happen.) Happy day all around!  Peter stopped at Home Depot (turkey) on the way down so he missed me finish but it was ok.  It felt great to beat him too.

After a quick shower at Linda's house, we took the kids to Trafalga.  I was in charge of the little girls while Peter took the big kids.  Martie was nervous about the swinging boat; Eleanor hopped right on.  Martie refused to ride the frog jumper when she saw what it did; Eleanor went on it by herself.  She screamed bloody murder through it but she did it.  Then she went on the bumper boats while Martie refused.  Eleanor is going to be just like Brigham and Porter; way too brave.  It's all good.  I will ride the rides with them.  :)
