Village People Party

For some of you, it may not be as good as it sounds, but last Saturday, we had our "annual" village people party. I say "annual" because we actually haven't had it for about 3 years. Anyway, the village people are the wonderful people we made friends with while living in the Student Village/300 Court while attending the University of Utah. There used to be quite a few people but slowly people moved away and since I put the wrong date on the invitation this year, our party only consisted of having the Burts, and the Olsens over. The positive is that we still had 12 kids and six adults.

We did our usual soup, bread, and desert meal and then played the traditional while elephant. The kids play thier game where they don't trade gifts, but the adults, if you can call us that, play the old fashioned way where you can take someone else's gift. You know this is our favorite part of the party because Jeff wanted us to trade each item twice per round instead of twice in the whole game. We could have had an all night party! Anyway, since white elephants are what matter most, I will list a few of the things that showed up at this years game. Of course we had the traditional ceramic white elephant cream pourer thing make his usual appearance (and make it's miserable way out of my house so I don't have to store it anymore) but we also had toy machine guns, homeade orange marmalade, muffins, a flying duck, Bathroom supplies, and a "Guess Who" game. Saddly, these silly toys made for a great game, partly because we didn't end up with the noisy machine guns or the white elephant.

We had a wonderful time with the Olsen's and the Burts but we did miss the Simpsons, the Coltons, the Mangums, the Tapps, the Viegels, and the Gillings but hopefully at least some of them will show up at the Olsen's summer pool party. :)
