The picture above is of Brigham's Monster truck that he got in 2007. He never charged it very often but he loved to load it up with stuff, lean on it, and push it around the house with Porter. Well the other day, he brought it up and gave it to Peter stating, obviously, that it was broken and wondering if his great engineering dad could fix it. Peter looked at it and said he didn't think he could. It looked like it was too broken to fix. To which Brigham replies "But Dad, you can just use some tape and tape it up or glue it back together. If you want to, you can even just cut the string (refering to the wires still attached to each half), and I will just have the front of the truck to drive around." Peter said he didn't think that would work and then put the kids to bed. So, the next morning when I tried to put it in the garbage, Brigham said, "No mom, me and dad have some deals and we are going to glue it together, tape it together, or just cut the string so I can have half the truck." So, being the good mom that I am, I waited until he went down for a nap and put the truck in the trash. Maybe he will get a new one for his birthday.
While I am sharing Brigham's comments, I had just as well share Julia's as well. The other night at the dinner table, Julia asked Peter why he doesn't have a "real" job. We asked her what she meant as she knows that Peter goes to work everyday and earns the money we need to provide for our family and she said, "Yes, but I mean why doesn't he have a real job like working in the hospital or as a fireman or something." Julia has previously answered the, "what does your dad do at work?" question by saying, "He just sits at the computer and does lots of clicks" I guess they don't teach school kids about the other 90% if the population that isn't in the "community worker" category.
Porter's comments, I guess I just as well share them as well. He no longer insists that the baby will sleep outside with the kitty but he is insistent that it won't be in his room. He said it can sleep with mommy. He is ready to be the big brother; any time anyone in the car asks me a question he answers with a very harsh and loud "No." He is finally waking up from his nap now so you are out of reading more things my kids say.

Okay--what deal do you want to make?
Give me a minute. I accidentally hit enter before I wrote the post! :)
I love how simple everything is to kids-there is nothing that elmer's glue and tape can't fix :) Fun stories!
Julia is so funny! I guess most of us don't have "real" jobs do we?
So funny! Kids are great I love the very clear way they see things! Also, I was thinking way to go on your trip! That is pure genius to go on vacation with three people that don't have kids, you always have someone to help you! Anyways, glad you had fun!
How sweet that Brigham had so much faith in Peter that he knew his dad could fix anything. Its hard when you have to say you can't...
