When I was done I took my mom in for another chemo treatment and doctor's appointment where we got some GREAT news. She had previously been told that she only had months but because she is responding so well to the chemo, they are saying it will more likely be a couple of years. They aren't sure if the lumps in her lungs are from lupus or cancer and they probably won't find out for a few more weeks. If they are cancer, they won't do surgery on her ovaries because it has already metastisized and spread through her body BUT she is responding so well that they may be able to treat for years. If the lumps are not cancer but caused by the lupus, they are still going away and if they go away completely then they will talk about doing surgery on her ovaries and uterus. She was so happy. So was I. We went up and did a double dose of chemo, got chest x-rays, and had a celebratory lunch at Red Lobster with steak, salmon, and shrimp again. :)
Then when I took her home she brought out meat rings. She had made them for me! So I could go home and focus on my family. The cancer patient isn't supposed to make dinner for the person trying to help take care of them but that is my mom. Love her so much. Love spending these long but great days with her.
