I can't believe I havent' posted since school started and we are already almost out. Needless to say I have a lot of back posting to do so here we go.
A few days after Julia and Brigham started back to school, Porter got to start preschool with Abby at Miss Amy's house. He has loved every minute of it.
He started out not knowing all of his letters but now he is reading the "Bob" books to us at night. he loves to spell words for us as we drive down the road and he loves to read with us at night. He just recently did his first picture with words and it said, "mom is the best." He is fantastic at sounding out words and we can't wait to see what he reads to us next.
He has had field trips to the fire station and to Cabella's and has had visitors like the dentist and a nurse. He has one more year of preschool before he can enter kindergarten and we can't wait to see what he will learn.
This is Halloween.
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea
Keeping with tradition, we chose a family theme for our costumes this year. It started with a jellyfish costume that we wanted to make for Julia and then grew from there. Before we knew it, Brigham was a turtle, Porter was a Star Fish, Martie was a mermaid and Peter and I were snorkelers trying to keep track of them all. They had a great time wearing their costumes to the ward Halloween party where they won a prize for the best themed costumes and to Uncle Nathan's party. Unfortunately it was raining on Halloween so we ended up having four ghosts with garbage bags but they loved getting to be two things for Halloween instead of just one. :)
Porter is 4!
Shortly after starting preschool, Porter turned four! he wanted a dinosaur party and a Spiderman pinata so we had lots of fun incorporating them both. We played pin the tail on the brontosaurus, egg race with dinosaur feet, made dinosaur hats, and got lots of candy from the pinata.
Porter likes playing with "Moddie" and he is willing to let her go everywhere with him. He will stop to help her up and down the stairs and he will introduce her to the TV when they ask, "What's your name?" he responds, "I'm Podo and this is Moddie and Eleano."
Porter also has a special ability to make his mommy feel loved. I have always wanted a child who always chose to go with me and be with me and I found it in Porter. Every time I leave the house for any moment, he has to have a hug and a kiss first. He also tells me he missed me when I get back and usually waits up to give a hug and a kiss when I come home.
As mentioned before, Porter is quite a smartie. He is reading books to us and loves spelling. We can't wait for him to get into kindergarten. At preschool one day, he was asked to bring something that was "eXtra special" and he chose to bring his scriptures. He loves to think of all the things that start with each letter so he can find the very best thing to take each week for show and tell.
We are super lucky to have Porter in our home and we are grateful for the love that he shares with each of us.
