Lake Powell

Ok.  Another trip to Lake Powell.  This year we were able to go with a lot more of Peter's family and several more little kids which made it even more fun.  Vixie and Tim came in with Hunter (5), Paige (3), and Morgan (2).  Pattie, Dave, Aubrey, Alyssa, Ellie, Marty, Nathan, Jessica, Linda, Katy, Peter, Heather, Chris, and their baby Mason came down as well.  In order to spare you looking through another long blog about Powell I have condensed the photos into mosaics so that you can just get a quick overview.
The day we were supposed to drive down to Powell, (which ended up being the day before because of the Jones curse that makes it so everything breaks down and nothing goes as planned), we went to the Provo water park with Vixie and her kids.  I had splash park that rivaled any I have seen, a big pool, and two huge water slides.  Porter was the first to go down the slide and he went with me.  Surprisingly, he loved it.  He was able to go two more times before we left.  Julia went down with Vixie, Brigham went down once with Peter and then once by himself.  He is one brave kid.  It was a great park and I look forward to go back next  summer.
Another fun part of our trip down was passing the smoke stacks.  Hear me out, when Porter saw the three smokestacks that mark the end of our long drive and asked, "Mom, what are dose making?"  Too tired to try and explain something to a three year old two rows back, I replied that I didn't know to which he quickly informed me, "I know what day are makin'.  Day are makin' clouds."  And low and behold I looked over and he was right.  Clouds were coming out of the top.  I will never look at pollution the same.
Here are some actual pictures from lake Powell. In the top left Porter actually managed to climb from the boat into the kayak that was anchored to the side all by himself. Then there is one of Paige, Morgan, and Martie playing together. Of Course everyone always loves the wave runners and I took Julia and Brigham together.  One night was spent making s'mores and lighting off fireworks that Nathan brought.  Aubrey found herself constantly followed by her little admirer Porter and everyone enjoyed sitting around the fire late at night.  The next row has a picture of Peter who took Martie and Porter on a wave runner, Brigham testing out the slide late the first night, and me trying to console Julia who didn't like the rocks, or the sand, on her feet or legs.  The last row is of Martie enjoying her private boat, Brigham and Porter swimming together, which they did for quite a while and quite a distance, and finally a nature shot taken by Peter.  While we always come back with several of these, I have to admit they are pretty beautiful.  These pictures were taken by Nathan when the kids were enjoying the water slide one afternoon and of course he had to take one of himself showing the fear that one of these tiny little kids would land on him.  Thanks for the pictures Nathan.  Lastly, a few pictures of the Glen Canyon Dam that we took on the way home.  The kids always want to walk across and see it but we are usually in a hurry.  This time we took a few minutes to let them walk across and take a few pictures.  Julia loved it but I don't think Porter was very impressed and I am certain he didn't want pictures taken of the occasion.  It's all for the sake of forced family fun.
