September 12th Marathon! and Lagoon

Brigham ran his second marathon and rocked it!

Heidi Goneman, Shauna Eccles, Me, Misty Rollins, and Brigham ran Big Cottonwood Marathon.
Sticking together we finished in under 4 hours.  3:56:36 for Brigham and 3:56:43 for me.  Brigham took FIRST in his age group of 18 and under!  So proud of him...and me!
One of the things we did on the run as say something we were thankful for each mile.  Brigham started out with Lagoon but then had some really great things like being thankful specifically for Julia and the good sister she is to him.  Later he said he was thankful for the power to talk to God through prayer and that he is always there for us. We were both thankful for the pioneers and their stories that we have been reading and the sacrifice they made to come here with their families.  He was thankful for a strong body and a mind that was strong enough to overcome his body when it wanted to quit.  Then later when things got really hard being thankful for priesthood blessings that dad is worthy to give him.  Such precious moments that meant so much to me.  Hearing the things he is grateful for was worth more than any other part of the marathon!
These are the signs that the kids had for us out on the run.  They each made their own.  Julia's says, "So proud of you."  Eleanor's says, "I love my runners (Mom and Brigham)."  Porter's says, "My runners are stars.  I love Bigham and Mom"  and Martie's says You are doing good at running."  Peter even made one for Brigham that said "Brigham you are my hero" and me that said "You are my Wonder woman."  THANKS GUYS
After the marathon we were able to come home and rest; but only for a minute.  Xlear was having their Lagoon day and we had free tickets.  Since we had already purchased passes, we let the kids bring friends with the tickets.

Julia brought Kara, Leah, and Megan, Brigham brought Parker, Tate, and Dallin, and  Porter brought Cannon.  We headed out to Lagoon at 2pm.   I walked around for a while and then finally rode a roller coaster around 5:30.  I was so sick I thought I would die.  Then I realized Brigham and I hadn't eaten anything except a yogurt, half of a banana, and half of a power bar before the race and then a slice of pizza at the end.  We needed food.  After eating I felt much better and was able to have a bit more fun with the kids and we stayed until 9:30 before heading home to drop off the kids.
