This morning I took the boys to the school 5K. They had a great time though we know they wrote down Brigham's time incorrectly. :( We had fun doing it though. After that, Peter took the boys to Abi's funeral
Abi is a girl in Brigham's class that got brain cancer last year and passed away the day we got home from Wisconsin. We feel for her family and pray for them daily but I also think the boys understand that she is in a better place and she will watch over them.
While they were doing that, I went up to be with a family in our ward. Sister Ellis went into a coma on Wednesday and they couldn't wake her up. They ran a brain scan and couldn't find any real brain activity so I went up for the blessing of release and to be with the family. It was hard but I expected that. What I didn't expect was how beautiful it would be. President Maxwell and Brother Laxman gave her a blessing and blessed that she would stay close to her family and that comforting them and watching over them would be one of her primary duties on the other side. The spirit was amazingly strong. After they took her off the machines her husband held her hand and talked to her so sweetly until she passed. He was so strong I was in awe.
Sister Maxwell had driven up with me and on the way home she explained that Brother Ellis had a severe studder and could usually only say one or two words without stopping. It was amazing because the whole time we were there he never studdered once. He had such a spirit with them. It was hard to watch but I was glad I was there.
Julie and I felt like we needed a break so we went to Old Navy and did a bit of shopping. I have a gift for finding deals. I found a couple of shirts clearanced for around $7 but they all rang up for 3 or 4! We had a great time but more than the clothes it was great to spend time with her.
