April 26 READ THE DIRECTIONS

I recently watched the movie "Food Matters."  I mentioned before that it prompted a renovation or our menu; which has been really great.  They also mention in the movie that high doses of vitamin supplement, while said by most to be extremely dangerous, can not only be safe but helpful.  They mentioned people taking over 3000 mg. of Niacin.  I thought I would try this Saturday morning.  BIG MISTAKE.  Had I taken any time to look up anything, I would have seen that this is a dose that one should build up to.  Starting with 50 mg. and then adding an additional 50 each week.  But alas, I didn't.  Immediately after taking the pills, I was pretty stinking nauseous.  Then within minutes my skin started BURNING. It starter on my face then went down my arms and legs.  I was scared to death.  I had Peter call poison control.  They told him that while I would be in some pain for a while, I would be OK; eventually and that there was nothing that could be done for me.  Sooo, I spent the next two hours between the bed and the toilet.  I couldn't wear clothes or use blankets because it hurt so bad to have anything touching my skin (apparently it dilates your capillaries which makes you turn lobster red and feel like your skin is sunburned).  I was in so much pain I thought it was the end.  I laid down on the tile in the bathroom trying to cool off.  I couldn't walk.  I didn't have the strength to sit up or anything.  After two hours the burning subsided but I spent the rest of the day sick in bed.
That said, they were right.   I was fine.  And had I taken 60 X the recommended dose of almost ANY prescription drug I would have actually been dead instead of just feeling like death would be better.  :)  So, I learned a lesson.  Vitamins=good WHEN YOU READ THE DIRECTIONS.
But, while I was sick in bed, Peter was working his tail off.  He tore out the grass, brought in compost, and planted raspberries along one fence, blueberries and blackberries along another, and a good 20 strawberry plants.  We still have about 40 strawberry plants to go.  We'll see if we get them done.  :)
You can't really tell from the pictures but trust me; they are in there.
