An Answer to Prayers
Just a quick note about the prayer we had answered today. As many of you know, Peter's family has had a tradition of being baptized on their birthday. It is a really neat tradition but one that hasn't carried through to the grandchildren very well as more and more stakes are simplifying by having all baptisms done on the first Saturday of each month. Well we thought it was worth a shot and asked permission to do it on Julia's Birthday. Originally we were told yes but then when it was discussed further by stake leaders they came back to tell us no. It was disappointing as we had gotten our hopes up so high but we knew that we would follow what they asked regardless. So, we have been planning Julia's baptism for July 3rd. Today the bishop shared the best news with us. Another of the boys in the ward scheduled to be baptized on July 3rd, has a dad in the National Guard who is gone the first Saturday of each month and they therefore needed special permission to do the baptism on another day. The bishopric suggested the 26th, and asked if they would mind Julia's joining them. They said it was fine and KABOOM, our prayers were answered. So, to make a short story long, Julia will get to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the very first day that she is allowed. It will be a most special day.
