Catch up

It seems like I am always trying to catch up on something, laundry, house cleaning, reading, etc. Today, it is blogging. So many fun things have been happening and I haven't taken the time to write about them. So, here's our catch up.
Linda has been doing some neurofeedback with me. It is quite fascinating. A short overly simplified explanation is that she hooks monitors up to different places on your head to read you different brain waves. They don't do anything to you, they just collect information. There are different waves in your brain, (maybe alpha, beta and something else) and ideally they are all working together. Well, you can't consciously control it but when they get close together your brain is rewarded with more lights on the monitor you are watching and more sound in your headphones. You do sessions that are about 20 minutes and I try to do a couple of sessions a week. Then, you brain learns to focus when it needs to and it works together on the messages eliminating the head aches. Apparently they use it with drug addicts, ADD kids, chronic pain sufferers and things like that. So, it has been helping. I was skeptical at first because when I sat down she asked me how I was feeling and when I said fine, she said to tell her if I felt anything. After a few minutes I had mild cramping in my lower abdomen and by changing the frequency of the light and sound "rewards," she was able to make them go away. Then she made me super dizzy and everything was shaking in the room. She kept adjusting and got rid of that as well. Now that we know what "frequency" I need to be on, it only makes me feel better and it is much quicker. Anyway, it is weird but I have had fewer headaches and I do find it fascinating that we can do things like this. So, while I do this, Peter has to have the kids. One of the times he had them, they went to the park and Julia and Brigham climbed a giant spider web. Here's a picture.
I also have a funny story to tell you about Brigham. My neighbor, Kelly, has a wonderful porch swing that I have been coveting recently. I wanted to sit outside and swing my baby. Anyway, she went out of town and said that while they were gone, I was welcome to sit on their swing and enjoy the sounds of their beautiful fountain. Well, one day we were sitting over there (for some reason Peter found it odd that our whole family was sitting in front of the neighbor’s house without them there) and Brigham picked up some deer antlers (these neighbors are serious hunters and have a mountain lion and bear skin in their house). Anyway, Brigham said he wanted deer antlers in our yard. I asked him how he would get them. He said that he would hunt a deer for us. I asked him how one would go about killing a deer to see what he knew about hunting. He explained that you just club them to death with a big long stick. That is how you kill a bear as well. So, while we don't hunt, apparently he has heard the phrase, "walk softly and carry a big stick."

Don't know the point of that story, but we did enjoy their swing so much that I got one for my birthday (early). Thanks mom! And that leads to my next picture. I sat out on the swing one day and watched Peter wash the dirt off of his car and Porter decided he would join in and wash his car. Cute pictures huh?
Now that I have told you about me and Porter here is a quick one liner for the other members of our family.
Martie is trying Zantac to try and control the reflux that makes her cry for an hour or so each time she eats. It hasn’t worked yet but we can try a different Rx if we want.
Peter performed in a wonderful concerto concert with a 9 yr old violinist.

Brigham graduated from his wonderful Imagine preschool and will miss Miss Amy very much.
Julia had a culminating event that Peter went to. She sang Yankee Doodle, You’re a Grand Old Flag, and America the Beautiful.

Oh, the day before Memorial Day, Elizabeth took Julia, Brigham and Porter for a sleep over at her house. They had a great time and then in the morning, Grandma Linda and Grandpa Jim took them our on some four wheelers. They had a great time. And after I picked them up, they got to go to Aunt Lisa's to go swimming. She has a great pool at her house and we had a fun BBQ. They have wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. I don't think they have any idea how lucky they are.

I started reading the post but lost my mind after the first part. You know, the part about someone hooking your brain up to contraptions? Unfortunately, I was unable to continue through the rest of the post due to hysteria. If you needed something to do, all you had to do was ask and I would have given you something constructive to do. If you insisted on being hooked up to something, I have some jumper cables in my trunk.

So my mom keeps telling me about that stuff and I still don't really get it! I swear every time I call she has someone hooked up, kind of crazy! I loved the hunting story, Brooke is already obsessed with hunting. She can teach Brigham all about it at Christmas! Anyways you guys sound like you're busy and having fun!
