Wahooo!

Why Wahoo? Oh so many, many reasons. Last weekend was one of the greatest ever! On Tuesday Julia had her mini recital where she played "O Come all Ye Faithful," and then we went with Jessie down to Grandma Linda and Grandpa Jim's Santa Party. Now, despite the fact that my kids know that Santa isn't really a man dressed up in red who flies around in the night, they really get into this party. Probably in large part because Santa brings gifts! Wahoo!
We made it home that night and Wednesday cleaned the house so we could go to Aunt Lisa's for a Christmas Eve get together. We had dinner and exchanged gifts. Julia got a princess outfit with a wig and I don't think you would recognize her in it. It's pretty cool. Grandma Julie and Grandpa Terry gave them a karaoke that we came home and played around on before everyone climbed into our bed and watched "Christmas Oranges" before falling asleep.
Christmas morning was my big frustration. I got up at 4:00 and couldn't sleep. Finally I went in and ate breakfast. I read some stories and then tried to go back to bed. I still couldn't sleep and so I took a long relaxing bath hoping the running water would wake everyone up. When it didn't I got dress and blow dried my hair and turned on the bathroom light to do my makeup. Still everyone slept. Finally at almost 8:00 everyone got up. Wahoo! We let our excitement build as we waited for Aunt Elizabeth and Grandma Linda and Grandpa Jim to arrive. It took them a little while because there was massive snow where we are. Apparently it snowed everywhere but between 124th South, and 134th South, we got dumped on. We got about 18" of snow but had drifts up to four feet in places. It was more than our snow blower could handle. We got it good enough and everyone came in to open gifts. Wahoo! In spite of the fact that we try to keep gifts to a minimum and keep the focus on Christ, by the time we were done, we had quite the stack. Julia's favorite gift was her mini American Girl doll, Brigham's was the fort supplies his dad made out of PVC pipe, and Porter's was his light saber. Peter got a set of the Planet Earth movies that we all love and Mom got A GIRL! Now of course we all want a healthy baby, but mom really wants to pull out the girl bedding and girl clothes one more time. And she gets to! Double WAHOO!! After that we had a big old breakfast where Grandpa Jim made Mickey Mouse pancakes to which Bugs replied "this isn't Mickey. He doesn't have any feet." After everyone was stuffed and had played a game, they left and Mommy went to work cleaning. We got all the Christmas stuff down and the house cleaned Daddy spent three hours finishing the snow removal. But when it was done, we were able to go down to Linda's without worrying about the mess we would return to. Wahoo!
We saw Great Grandpa Harward on the way to Linda's and dropped him off some peaches. He was doing good but it is easy to see how much he misses Grandma. It was fun to tell him that we were naming out little girl Martha (after Marti) Vernice after Grandma. It will be fun to some day tell her about the wonderful and funny person she is named after. When we got to Linda's I had one of the worst head aches ever but after two separate naps and some ibuprofen, it finally went away Wahoo. We spent the night at Linda's and then went to St. George where we stayed in Grandma and Grandpa's house swimming in their hot tub and watching lots of Planet Earth. When Mom and Dad went out to celebrate their 11th anniversary, Grandma and Grandpa took the kids to see the "Tales of Desperaux" and then out to McDonalds. Peter and I went to Cafe Rio and then bought a copy of the game Blokus (a family favorite). Wahoo!
Sunday we headed home and then Linda and Marti came up to play games. We played a Knottingham, Blokus, and Scrabble. There is nothing I love more than sitting around and playing games. So, that definitely ended our weekend with another Wahoo.
Sorry to bore so many of you, but this blog counts as my journal so I like to make a record of everything we do. If it's too much for you, you can just gander at the pictures or skim. Thanks for your patience.
